Paediatric Adolescent Gynaecology
Paediatric and adolescent gynaecology is often a very stressful and sometimes a trying time for parents and their daughters. Puberty, especially is never easy. The changes in the hormones definitely do not help and you are not alone. I am here to help make this transition easier for both you and your adolescent. Paediatric and adolescent gynaecology is also often firsts for many. I say that every girl or adolescents is unique and individual and we are here to provide them the opportunity to voice their concerns at any time.
Conditions in paediatric and adolescent gynaecology include:
- Vulval & vaginal conditions
- Uterine anomalies
- Menstural management
- Period pain & pelvic pain
- Genetic conditions associated with menstural dysfunction
- Complex medical conditions associated with menstural issues and fertility (eg. Cystic fibrosis, childhood cancer survivors)
- Pubertal concern
- Polycystic ovarian syndrome
- Premature ovarian insufficiency
How it works..
Patient Assessment
A detailed history will be taken. A limited examination will be performed in children and adolescents. Occasionally, an examination under a general anaesthetic may be required at a later stage if deemed necessary.
Diagnose
Together with the initial investigations and assessment, a preliminary diagnosis would be made.
Treat
A treatment plan would be proposed and discussed with the adolescent and parents as appropriate. Adolescents would be given every opportunity to voice their concerns
